Obverse description Hammered copper flan of irregular round form bearing Arabic legends in the field. The obverse carries the mint and regnal inscription in multiple lines of Arabic script, including the accession formula 'Azza nasruhu' (May his victory be glorious), the mint name Qustantiniyya (Constantinople), and the AH date 977. The die-struck legends are arranged within the plain field with no border or decorative framing, consistent with Ottoman mangir coinage of the mid-sixteenth century. The surfaces show characteristic porosity and uneven strike typical of hammered copper issues of this period.
