Obverse description Hammered copper flan of irregular round form displaying Arabic script legend in the field, struck in the characteristic Ottoman mangir style. The inscription, rendered in flowing Naskh-style Arabic calligraphy, occupies the central field and is partially visible through natural patination and surface wear. The legend references the ruling sultan Suleiman I and is arranged in multiple lines. The flan shows the typical rough, uneven surface associated with hand-hammered Ottoman copper coinage of the early sixteenth century.
