Obverse description Central field bears an elongated cartouche containing the regnal year in Arabic numerals, flanked on either side by an arabesque ornament. The entire composition is enclosed within a beaded circle. The design is characteristic of the hammered coinage style typical of mid-sixteenth century Ottoman copper issues.
