Reverse description The entire convex field is densely covered with a repetitive matrix of the kanji character 宝 (Hō), struck in multiple rows and columns filling the surface from edge to edge in a tightly packed cluster pattern. The characters are rendered in bold relief, applied by repeated stamp impressions in the characteristic mitsuhō ('triple-treasure') arrangement, with the vertical column of 宝 connecting to the uppermost row — a diagnostic feature of this particular variety. The surface exhibits the irregular topography and verdigrin patination typical of low-silver billon mameitagin of the Hōei issue.
