Obverse description Within a beaded inner circle, the crowned rampant lion of Bohemia faces left, depicted in high relief on the irregular flan typical of hammered coinage. The royal titles of Emperor Matthias II surround the central device as a Latin legend encircling the field. A mintmaster's mark appears at the base of the inner circle. The overall style is characteristic of early 17th-century Bohemian hammered silver.
