Obverse description Bare-headed, draped and cuirassed bust of the usurper Magnentius facing right, portrayed in a three-quarter frontal perspective that lends the effigy a striking plasticity characteristic of mid-fourth-century imperial portraiture. The emperor's features are rendered with firm, idealized modeling, the shoulders fully armored beneath a draped paludamentum. The letter A appears in the field behind the neck, serving as a mint or officina control mark. The encircling obverse legend reads DN MAGNENTIVS PF AVG in Latin capital letters.
