| Obverse description | Bare-headed bust of Emperor Magnentius facing right, draped and cuirassed, with strongly modelled facial features rendered in the robust late Roman style. The emperor's short hair is depicted with incised strokes, and the paludamentum fastened at the shoulder is visible below the cuirass. The Latin legend D N MAGNEN-TIVS P F AVG encircles the bust, reading 'Our Lord Magnentius, Pious and Fortunate Augustus.' The control mark A appears in the left field behind the bust. |
