Obverse description Crowned facing bust of Edward II occupying the central field, rendered in the schematic Gothic style characteristic of early fourteenth-century Gascon coinage. The king is depicted with a stylised bearded visage, wearing an open crown from which curling hair falls to either side of the face. The bust is flanked by foliate or fleur-de-lis ornaments in the field. A beaded inner circle surrounds the effigy, with the Latin devotional legend running in the outer margin between beaded borders.
