| Obverse description | Draped bust of Louis XVI facing left, with elaborately curled long hair dressed in the fashion of the period. The engraver's signature DUVIV. appears in small letters beneath the truncation. The circular legend surrounds the effigy, reading LUD . XVI . REX CHRISTIANISS., and the entire design is framed by a finely executed beaded border. |

The États de Bourgogne were a provincial assembly with the unusual privilege of levying their own taxes and issuing their own jetons — a right jealously maintained until the Revolution abolished such bodies outright in 1790. The restrikes ("refrappes") of these jetons were produced for collectors rather than circulation, likely after the originals had already seen institutional use as accounting tokens in the assembly's financial proceedings.
Distinguishing original strikes from refrappes on this type requires close attention to die state and edge freshness. Feugère 9865 records the piece, though census data for surviving examples remains sparse.
