Obverse description Left-facing draped bust of Louis XVI with elaborate powdered wig, engraver's signature DUVIV. in the lower exergue. The circumferential legend reads LUD . XVI . REX CHRISTIANISS., identifying the king as Most Christian King of France. The rim is decorated with a fine beaded border.

Reverse description Quartered coat of arms of Burgundy, combining the ancient duchy arms of golden fleurs-de-lis on azure with the diagonal bendlets of modern Burgundy, draped with ornamental mantling on either side and surmounted by a ducal crown. The circular legend COMITIA BURGUNDIÆ 1779 identifies this jeton as issued by the Estates of Burgundy. The rim is decorated with a matching beaded border.
