Obverse description Equestrian effigy of King Louis XIV in high relief, depicted in period dress with a plumed hat and long curled wig, mounted on a rearing horse facing left. The circular legend surrounds the central device, with the dates 1661–1715 appearing in the lower exergue flanked by small decorative rosettes.
