Reverse description A prominently rendered bunch of grapes suspended from a curling vine stem, flanked by two large deeply-veined vine leaves, one to the upper left and one to the upper right, with a tendril curling to the right. The cluster is depicted in high relief, with individual globular grapes clearly articulated. The design fills the flan within a beaded border, serving as a direct allusion to Dionysos and to Naxos's identity as the first Greek colony founded in Sicily.
