Reverse description Crab rendered frontally in high relief, its carapace centrally placed and flanked by two upraised claws and multiple articulated legs extending across the field, executed with remarkable naturalistic detail characteristic of the finest Sicilian engraving tradition. A lotus flower appears below the crab in the lower field, serving as a secondary emblem of the city. The reverse field is incuse and unbordered, the design filling the flan with bold plasticity. No legend is present; the imagery alone identifies the civic authority of Akragas.
