Reverse description A large, naturalistically rendered bunch of grapes suspended from a curving vine branch, flanked by broad vine leaves and a spiraling tendril to the right. The individual grapes are depicted as rounded pellets arranged in a full, tapering cluster filling the central field. Additional vine foliage, including a prominent multi-lobed leaf to the lower left, frames the composition within the plain round flan. The type alludes directly to the viticulture for which Naxos was renowned and reinforces the Dionysiac iconographic programme of the obverse.
