Obverse description Coronet Liberty head effigy in left-facing profile, hair elaborately braided and swept upward beneath a tiara inscribed with the word LIBERTY, with loose curls falling to the neck. Thirteen six-pointed stars are arranged in the field around the periphery, flanking the portrait. The date 1854 appears in the lower exergual area. The legend KELLOGG & CO is present, and the overall style closely follows that of the United States Liberty Head gold coinage of the period.
