Obverse description Central field bearing the crowned Gothic initial 'G' for Gaston, flanked by three fleurs-de-lis arranged in a triangular composition — one to the left, one to the right, and one below — all within a circular inner border. The crowned monogram and fleurs-de-lis together evoke the royal and feudal pretensions of Gaston d'Orléans as prince of Dombes. A circular Latin legend runs along the outer border, partially visible on the irregular flan.
