Additional information

Johann Konrad II von Reinach-Hirzbach served as Prince-Bishop of Basel from 1737 — wait. The dates don't align cleanly with a 1725 strike under his authority, and the historical record for this minor ecclesiastical issue is thin enough that overstating the political circumstances would be a disservice. What is clear is that the Bishopric of Basel operated as a sovereign ecclesiastical principality within the Holy Roman Empire, with the right to strike its own coinage, and kreuzer-denominated silver at this weight represent the smallest practical denomination the mint was authorized to produce.
