| Obverse description | Central field depicts an armored equestrian figure, facing right, mounted on a horse in a striding pose. The rider, representing the tsar, wears a conical helmet and armor, and brandishes a long lance or spear diagonally across the field. The design is characteristic of the wire money (cheshuykas) tradition of Muscovite coinage, struck on an irregular planchet with bold, deeply impressed relief. No border or legend is present on this side. |

| Reverse description | The reverse is entirely occupied by a five-line Cyrillic inscription filling the oval field, reading the full royal titulature of Władysław IV Vasa as Tsar of Russia: ЦРЬ И ВЕЛИКИЙ / КНЯЗЬ ВЛАДИ / СЛАВ ЖИГИ / МОНТОВИЧ / ВСЕЯ РУСИ, meaning 'Tsar and Grand Prince Vladislav Sigismundovich of all Russia.' The bold, angular early Cyrillic letterforms are characteristic of Novgorod mint production of this period. The inscription is struck on an irregular, leaf-shaped planchet typical of Russian wire money coinage. |
