| Obverse description | A crowned horseman, representing the Tsar, depicted in profile charging to the right atop a galloping horse, thrusting a spear downward in the traditional St. George-derived motif. The figure is rendered in the archaic wire-money style characteristic of Russian chekanka coinage. Beneath the horse's hooves appears the abbreviated Cyrillic date inscription. The overall design is compact and irregular in outline, consistent with the hand-cut wire planchet technique of the period. |
