| Obverse description | Equestrian figure of the Tsar depicted as a warrior-horseman galloping to the right, holding a spear leveled forward in the traditional manner of Saint George iconography adapted for the Russian kopeck type. The horse is shown in full stride. Cyrillic date characters appear in the field beneath the horse's hooves, rendered in the Old Church Slavonic numeral system.
