| Obverse description | Plain, irregular silver flan typical of Russian wire money (chekha), produced by flattening a short section of silver wire between two dies. The obverse bears no figurative design, presenting only the uneven hammered surface of the planchet with no inscriptions or devices visible on this face. The irregular oval outline and rippled texture are characteristic of the wire kopeck coinage produced in the final years before Peter I's monetary reform replaced this ancient striking technique. |
