Obverse description Equestrian effigy of the Tsar depicted as an armoured horseman brandishing a spear, galloping to the right, in the traditional Russian wire money (chekha) style. The figure is rendered in a highly stylised, flat relief characteristic of hammered coinage of the period. Mint letters appear beneath the horse's hooves in Cyrillic script. The flan is irregular in shape, as is typical of wire kopecks produced by the cut-and-hammer technique.
