| Obverse description | Equestrian effigy of the Tsar depicted as an armed rider on a galloping horse to the right, lance held forward in the manner of a traditional kopeck spearman (копейщик). The figure is rendered in the archaic flat relief characteristic of early Romanov wire money. Mint letters 'o M' appear in the field beneath the horse's hooves, identifying the Moscow Mint. The flan is irregular in outline, consistent with the cut-wire production method of the period. |
