| Obverse description | Central field depicts an armoured equestrian figure — representing the Tsar — mounted on a galloping horse facing right, lance levelled in a charging posture consistent with the traditional Russian 'kopeck horseman' (копейщик) motif. The mintmark letters МО/СКВА (Moscow), identifying the issuing mint, appear beneath the horse's hooves. The design is rendered in the boldly simplified, high-relief style characteristic of wire money (чешуйка) of the Muscovite period, with the irregular flan shape inherent to the hammered wire-cut production method. |
