| Obverse description | A crowned equestrian figure, representing the Tsar, depicted in profile facing right astride a galloping horse and brandishing a spear downward in the manner of St. George. The design is rendered in the bold, schematic style characteristic of Russian wire money of the period. The mint mark 'о М' (denoting the Moscow Mint) appears in the field beneath the horse's hooves. The flan is irregular in shape, as is typical of wire-cut (chekanka) coinage of Muscovite Russia. |
