| Obverse description | Equestrian effigy of the Tsar depicted as a mounted warrior, facing right, riding a galloping horse and brandishing a spear in the raised right hand. The design is rendered in the characteristic crude wire-money style typical of mid-17th century Russian hammered coinage, with bold relief lines defining the horse and rider. The Cyrillic mint mark «П» (for Pskov) appears in the field. The flan is irregular in shape, consistent with production from a flattened silver or copper wire blank cut to weight. |
