| Obverse description | A mounted horseman, shown in profile facing right, depicted riding a galloping horse and brandishing a lance or spear — the traditional equestrian motif of the Russian kopeck type. The field is irregular in shape, characteristic of wire-money (cheshuykas) produced by the hammered technique. The Moscow mint mark 'МО' appears in the field, identifying the place of manufacture. The design is boldly but crudely struck, with relief details partially flat due to the nature of wire coinage production. |
