| Obverse description | Central field displays an ornate oval cartouche bearing a six-fold composite coat of arms, with the arms of Salzburg in the upper quarters and the personal arms of Archbishop Johann Ernst von Thun in the lower quarters. The shield is surmounted by the Cardinal's galero with its pendant tassels. A continuous Latin legend encircles the design, commencing at approximately 2 o'clock. |
