Obverse description Multi-line Arabic kufic inscription contained within a quatrefoil frame with pointed tips, each lobe accented by a pellet in the field. The inscription, arranged in horizontal registers, occupies the central field. A circular beaded or linear border encloses the entire design, characteristic of the hammered billon coinage of the Later Saffarids of Sijistan.
