Obverse description Elephant walking to right occupies the central field, rendered in a bold and stylized manner characteristic of early medieval Indian coinage. A Nagari legend reading 'Sri Samanta Deva' appears above the elephant across the upper portion of the flan. The overall design is executed in low relief on an irregularly shaped copper flan typical of hammered jitals of the Kabul Shahi period.
