Reverse description Three lines of Arabic inscription filling the reverse field, reading the royal titles and name of Sultan 'Ala al-Din Muhammad II of Khwarezm. The legend is executed in a compressed Kufic-influenced script, occupying virtually the entire coin surface within a plain circular border. The die-work is characteristic of the Kurraman mint production of the early 13th century, with letters bold but somewhat crudely struck due to the hammered technique.
