Obverse description Gilt field depicting a D-Day battle scene in relief: transport aircraft dropping paratroopers in the upper field, crossed Allied flags above, soldiers advancing on the beach with a Norman church and military vehicle at left. The legend 'D.DAY' appears prominently in the lower field, with the date '6 JUIN 1944' in the exergue. The five Normandy beach names are inscribed along the upper rim.

The central horizontal band bears the gilt legend 'D.DAY' on a green ground. The circular green border carries the beach names and date separated by stars.
