Obverse description The obverse depicts two historical French coins of Louis XIV in relief within the field: one showing the laureate bust of Louis XIV with surrounding legend, and the other depicting the reverse of the silver Écu aux trois couronnes (1709–1715) with three crowns and a fleur-de-lis. To the upper right, the crowned monogram of Louis XIV is shown alongside the inscription 'LOUIS XIV "Le Roi Soleil"'. The outer legend records key dates of his reign, and the overall legend 'MONNAIE D'AUTREFOIS' arcs along the top rim.
