Obverse description Right-facing draped bust of King Louis XIV with flowing long hair, in high relief. The circular Latin legend runs along the border between a toothed outer rim and a beaded inner border. The engraver's name BRETON appears in the exergue beneath the bust.

Reverse description A skep beehive in high relief occupies the centre of the field, surrounded by scattered fleurs-de-lis and small bees. The Latin motto is inscribed along the upper border between the toothed rim and a beaded inner circle. The inscription COMEDIENS · DV ROY appears in two lines within a recessed panel in the exergue.
