Obverse description The crowned arms of the city of Lyon, depicting a lion rampant on a vertically lined shield, flanked by two cornucopias overflowing with fruits and foliage, surmounted by a caduceus above the crown. The engraver's signature BARRE appears in the lower exergue. The legend BANQUE DE LYON curves along the left and right edges of the octagonal field.
