Obverse description The obverse displays the crowned shield of the Spanish Netherlands Brabant Patagon host coin, surrounded by the Latin legend reading the titles of the Archdukes, with the two Russian counterstamps applied in 1655: a rectangular cartouche bearing the date '1655' struck over the upper portion of the shield, and a circular beaded counterstamp in the field depicting an armoured horseman (the Tsar's cavalryman) galloping to the right with a spear, the standard symbol of Muscovite authority. The combination of the original Hapsburg milled design and the superimposed Muscovite punches is characteristic of the yefimok s priznakom issue of Tsar Alexis Mikhailovich.
