| Obverse description | The obverse displays the central design of the underlying Overijssel Rijksdaalder host coin: a crowned shield bearing the provincial arms of Overijssel, flanked by the date 16-55 split across the sides of the shield. A circular legend surrounds the shield reading CONCORDIA RES PARVAE CRESCNT, the provincial motto of Overijssel, rendered in Latin capitals. The Russian countermark of Tsar Alexey Mikhailovich — a rectangular stamp depicting St. George and the Dragon — is applied prominently in the field. The overall strike reflects the milled production technique of the Dutch provincial mint. |
