| Obverse description | The obverse displays the original design of the underlying 1649 Mansfeld Taler, depicting an armored equestrian figure of a count in full gallop to the left, the rider raising a sword overhead; a helmeted bust appears in the upper field. Two Russian countermarks applied by Tsar Alexey Mikhailovich in 1655 are prominently struck upon the field: a circular mark bearing the Muscovite horseman motif (the so-called 'kopek' stamp) at center, and a rectangular cartouche stamp with the date 1655 to the right. A Latin peripheral legend partially reads CHRIS... AC DOM... referencing the Mansfeld comital titles, contained within a beaded border. |
