Reverse description The reverse presents a right-facing bust of Archduke Leopold of Austria in armour with a lace collar, his hair falling to the shoulder in the baroque fashion of the early seventeenth century. The date 1623 is divided on either side of the effigy within the field. A continuous Latin legend encircles the bust along the beaded border, citing his full titles including Sacred Roman Empire and Archduke of Austria. The coin is struck in high relief in the style of contemporary Habsburg thalers, with the portrait exhibiting fine engraving of the drapery and armour details.
