| Obverse description | Central field dominated by the tughra of Sultan Mahmud I, rendered in the characteristic Ottoman calligraphic style with interlaced loops (beyze), ascending shafts (tuğ), and lateral extension (hancer). The monogram is executed in bold relief with fine internal detailing, occupying virtually the entire flan. The irregular hammered planchet imparts an uneven border to the design, typical of mid-18th century Egyptian mint production. |
