Reverse description A griffin shown springing vigorously to the left, its wings raised and spread, its forelegs extended in a leaping posture, rendered in a bold, confident style typical of early Hellenistic civic bronzes. The Greek legend IΣTIEI appears in the upper field above the griffin, while the abbreviation XEP is placed in the lower field beneath the creature, identifying the issuing city of Chersonesos. The flan is irregular and shows the characteristic surface texture of a hammered bronze issue. The griffin's musculature and wing feathers are well articulated despite the small module.
