Obverse description Irregular cast gold ingot bearing multiple applied stamps in the field: a crowned royal arms device to the left, a serial number 'No 1' stamp, assay or weight fractional numerals reading '1/2' and '23/26', decorative rosette punches, a rectangular cartouche with partially legible text, and the date '1831' in a recessed rectangular stamp. The various punches record official assay and registration markings consistent with Brazilian colonial and early imperial gold ingot practice.
