| Obverse description | Within a raised circular border on a square plaque, a full-length frontal figure of Pallas Athena in classical robes, crowned and holding a spear in her right hand, with a large round shield behind her. To her left, a seated semi-nude male figure in a contemplative pose rests with an open book on his lap amid scholarly attributes; to her right, a kneeling semi-nude male figure works at a gear-driven machine, symbolising industry and technology. The engraver's signature R. SCHIPKE appears in the lower right of the inner field, with the date MCMX in the exergue. |
