| Obverse description | Within a columned hall with a chequerboard floor, three allegorical figures — Pietas holding a book, Justitia with scales and sword, and Minerva in helmet — stand before a draped altar, above which hangs an oval medallion portrait of the Margrave; Minerva gestures toward the portrait. The surrounding legend and a lower cartouche bear the Latin inscription commemorating the foundation of the Academia Fridericiana at Erlangen on 4 November 1743. |
