| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Maximinus Thrax facing right, rendered in bold high relief with characteristic coarse, heavy features. The emperor is depicted wearing a paludamentum fastened at the shoulder, with visible scale or mail armor beneath. A dotted border surrounds the design. The Greek imperial titulature legend runs clockwise around the periphery, reading ΑΥΤ Κ Γ ΙΟΥ ΟΥΗ ΜΑΞΕΙΜΕΙΝΟϹ ϹΕΒ, identifying him as Emperor Caesar Gaius Julius Verus Maximinus Augustus. The numeral ΕΤΤ (year 253 of the local Anazarban era, corresponding to 234/235 AD) appears in the lower field. |
