| Obverse description | Bearded head of Silenos facing right, rendered in profile within a shallow incuse circle. The figure displays characteristic Silenian features including a broad, bulbous nose, flowing beard rendered with fine linear detail, and wild, dishevelled hair swept back from the forehead. The portrait is executed in a bold archaic-to-early-classical style typical of Sicilian mint engraving of the mid-fifth century BC, with strong sculptural relief despite the diminutive flan. |

| Reverse description | Winged thunderbolt depicted in the field, shown frontally with radiating volutes and outstretched wings symmetrically flanking the central shaft, the whole rendered in a schematic yet vigorous style. The thunderbolt, an attribute of Zeus, fills the flan. The partial ethnic inscription K-A (for KATANE) appears in the field to the right of the device, identifying the issuing city. The design is characteristic of the Dionysiac-Zeusian religious imagery common to Katanean coinage of this period. |
