Reverse description A lion passant to the right, powerfully rendered, savaging a stag couchant to the right by biting into its back; the predator-prey motif is a hallmark of Kitian royal coinage and conveys regal dominance. The entire scene is enclosed within a dotted square border that frames the composition in the field. The engraving displays the characteristic incuse die-work of Cypriot hammered gold coinage from the reign of Melekkiatam.
