The bird is depicted with broad, outstretched wings and strong talons gripping the thunderbolt, rendered in a bold, somewhat schematic Hellenistic style. The abbreviated Greek legend ΠΤΟΛΕ (for Πτολεμαῖος, Ptolemy) appears to the right of the eagle. The flan surface shows significant corrosion and patination typical of circulated bronze issues of this series. |
