Obverse description Forepart of a horse prancing to the right, rendered in archaic Greek style with a boldly striated mane, the muscular neck and raised forelegs depicted in profile. The figure occupies the full field of the flan, with no border or legend present. The relief is crisp and deeply struck, characteristic of fifth-century Thracian coinage.

Reverse description Quadripartite incuse square divided by two intersecting lines into four equal compartments, each containing one letter of the ethnic inscription ΤΡΙΗ (TRIH), the abbreviated ethnic of Trieros, rendered in archaic Greek capital letters. The incuse punch is deeply impressed and sharply defined, the letters boldly cut within their respective quarters of the square.
