The punch presents a rough, slightly subdivided recessed square with irregular interior surface showing traces of the hammer blow. No subsidiary design or legend is present within the incuse. This plain incuse reverse is characteristic of the earliest phase of Athenian silver fractional issues, serving primarily to authenticate the silver content of the flan. |
